Thanet Road Club Bank Holiday 10 mile TT
This was a last minute decision to go to Betteshanger, kind of forgotten that the event was on.
When I arrived there was a queue of riders wanting to sign on to do the time trial. Maybe the sunny weather and Thanet Road Club were doing entry on the line may have been in there favour.
The Time trial was classed as a fun club event, and why not, the festive vibe was still in the air, everyone was pleased to see one another passing on New Year wishes added to the community spirit.
The organiser Colin shouted out from there new track side hut, "10 minutes to starting, riders will be sent off at 30 second intervals".
He turned to me and said, "Dave we have 100 riders signed on, your going to be busy with lots of photos".
He wasn't wrong on that!
4 laps of the Betteshanger road circuit, then a short run off a side road to the finnish.
Seems straight forward enough - well no!
Some riders did six laps, one rider event did ten, and one got last! Thats normally me, but not this time.
It was a little cold, but nice to work in the sun. It was going to be a simple approach, some side shots, change of location for some head on portraits, and the bonus the riders pass 4 times, well some of them anyway.
So why do I use a flash on a brilliant sunny day?
With harsh midday sunlight comes with harsh shadows. I use flash to help reduce or eliminate harsh shadows on the faces, also helps make the shot a little sharper when used correctly.
